LUSTlab researches, generates hypotheses and makes unstable media stable again. According to LUSTlab, the future of digital media lies in the design of its use. Humanizing the unhuman, bringing the internet down to earth and finding the missing link between the digital and the physical. The outcomes vary from (strategic) visions to new communication tools, man-machine installations and physical products using digital content. 
LUSTlab approaches design as the most ingenious, beautiful and consolatory science when trying to understand the human being - from our molecular origins to the immense possibilities of the future. It is the catalyst to activate all senses; that helps to comprehend the myriad of possibilities that we accelerate towards. Using accumulated knowledge we can ask questions directly at everything that we do not understand.
Set up in 2010 by design studio LUST, LUSTlab takes advantage of more than 15 years experience and an insatiable passion for developments in the communication- and information-revolution. Research takes place on the verge of society, where communication, science and technology are united with design, interaction and technique, often even without a clear goal. The innovative research projects and products are mostly self-initiated, but can subsequently be transformed to fit the right application. 
The slit-scan photography technique is a process where a moveable slide is inserted between the camera and the subject to be photographed. The application reproduce this concept digitally, allowing the uset to set the size of the slide.

Using the laptop built-in camera Averager Mapper captures several pictures using a preset interval of time, mixing them and obtaining an average. Through the application interface is also possible to change manually the interval of time between the pictures.

Block Mapper allows you to define width and height of a rectangle, and use this rectangle to capture just a certain portion of the picture. Each new block goes next to the previews one, dividing this way the whole image in time blocks, each shot at a different time.

Colour Field Mapper captures exclusively the predominant color of the scene. Through the interface is possible to define the height of the various stripes of color that fill up the final image.

Manual Mapper is similar to Block mapper, but in this case is the user who decides, using the mouse to draw rectangles, the size and the number of blocks where the images are taken and displayed.

Random Pixels Mapper captures just a certain quantity of pixels in the image, randomly in preset interval of time. The user can also set the quantity of pixels and the time when the pictures are shot.
